So my pitch for this movie is Friday the 13th if it cared about realism (less magic), and followed the killer (almost) completely. I wont spoil anything but the killer is just a guy who comes back from the dead and is really strong. They actually commit to the slasher being a special needs child turned undead beast in a way that feels real and sad. I'd agure Johnny's back story is far worse (and sadder) than Jason. The realism never gets in the way of the kills either. This is by far the best tribute to slashers. You can feel the reverence for the genre, bleeding from the cinematography, without feeling like it's hitting a checklist of slasher tropes. I haven't felt real panic from a horror movie till this ending.
