Stunned by the positive ratings for this dire film. The lead (Clint Eastwood) is presented as an endearing rogue….literally what the hell? 1. He is a drugs trafficker. He has no need to be. He doesn’t need the money. He isn’t coerced into it. 2. He is an 88yo actor, playing a 90yo. Yet his wife is 60, and his numerous sexual conquests, and dancing & grinding encounters are with women in their 20s. 3. Oh what a jolly racist! How fun to hear him make remarks such as ‘they all look the same’. 4. He is a deadbeat dad who doesn’t even turn up to his daughter’s wedding, choosing to socialise at a bar instead. If this was someone else in the main role, not a very famous white man beloved by many, would we watching the ‘wayward, woebegotten, hero’ edit? Outdated, disappointing, oftentimes disturbing (the sex scenes of threesomes with women over 60 yrs younger than him). Wish I could give a negative stars review.

Poignant, moving, fantastically acted by the 3 leads. Da’vine Joy Randolph is so powerful in particular, but all 3 are transfixing. Beautifully directed, and with a perfect soundtrack. A more rewarding, interesting watch than Oppenheimer.

Absolutely awful. The worst film we’ve seen this year. Why? - Bondage references in a “family film” - Songs frenetically forced into unharmonious mash-ups - Very poor themes, including but not limited to, being cool & popular because of being ‘famous’, two young characters getting married & delivering lines like ‘would it be weird if we made out? It’d be weird if we didn’t’ - Jarring graphics & music - Very little plot, character development, or resolution This is possibly the worst animated feature we have ever seen. And we’ve watched The Queen’s Corgis. Dreamworks failed badly here, on every filmic level, but the worst is sexualising characters for young children. Teens aren’t watching Trolls. Don’t go!
