This is the first film that has ever prompted me to write a review. Aside from one other person I have seen in these reviews I feel crazy. If it wasn't for the absolutely breath taking cinematography I'd give it a 1/5.
Story wise it struggles to convey it's own message and relies heavily on post voice over which took me out of the narrative every time. I feel as if the director went to the production company "trust me it'll look amazing" to which they said "cool here's the money". Production wrapped and they went "ah damn we didn't do any story reckon Martin Sheen is up for ADR so it'll make sense?" Just felt like a cop out that wasn't thought through.
The characters conveyed the sense of descent into insanity well, but for a film about the Vietnam war its like saying water is wet.
