Disney animation is excellent, it always is. The movie was okay, my kids thought it was good but they were not as enthusiastic as they were after seeing Frozen and F2, Trolls and some other animated movies.
After watching all the credits to see if there was a post credit scene (Spoiler: there wasn't, lol), we were looking at the cast members names. We looked up Awkwafina because none of us had ever heard of her and she had a unique voice. Found out a little of her history and that she was a rapper. My 4th grade and 6th grade girls were interested in hearing her songs and after just looking at the titles I was like "uh, no. Sounds like kind of adult themed."
After I did listen to some to see if they could, I was really astounded that Disney would choose this person to link to their brand. I mean, there's a place for this type of music but I would not associate it with Disney and little kids. Super vulgar rap.
I don't know, I guess I'm getting old but when you have 2 little girls, you don't want them emulating some things meant for an older crowd. I found this surprising on Disney's part.
