While not the Best Star Trek Show, and with many glaring flaws in its first season, I can see why some may have not liked the Show at First. However ass a whole the whole show is nearly great. The acting is some of the best I have seen from shows in the last few years. The emotion all of these actors can bring is immensely impressive. The Writing is average at worst and above average at best. But the Acting makes you care about each character, the smaller interpersonal character writing is the best the show has to offer. And if your biggest complaint about the show is wokeneess and that star trek was never this way, I would like to remind you to literally watch ever Star trek show, so that you get reminded that this franchise is to your words "Woke" has been for over half a centaury, its just that instead of looking at these things as they where shoe horned, you could recognize that when it delves into for example a character that non binary, they don't make it that characters big thing. its only a part of the character that is both miniscule but normal. They didn't make it tokenistic which is what everyone would have hatted. instead its just there. Because that's normal. This show brought a lot of dark themes to the universe, but also brought an immense sense of hope, as we watched the Discovery crew surpass insurmountable odds time and time again.
So again while it may not be a perfect show, no show is, and its first season is extremely messy to say the least. It is by all accounts a good Star trek show and should be given respect to its ability to improve over time like Voyager, like Deep Space Nine, like The next generation, and like The original series. Breaking boundaries and pissing off those who hated progress.
