Loved the film. Whitney Houston had an anointing from God on her voice. Full Stop. In the film when she sang Home on Television her friend/lover Robin jumping up and down and lifting her hands in the air is the absolutely correct response. You cannot sit still when Whitney is released in song. Anytime you have to tell the story of a person who had a big life -- it is hard to get it into 2.5 hours. Everyone will always have something to say, "they didn't focus on her being gay or bisexual enough or they didn't show the extent of the drug use, or (fill in the blanks)". I think they did not show the depths of the personal faith of Whitney -- she did not just sing in thew choir.
She had a genuine love of God and this impacted her. I thought she should have sung the song, "I look to you!" on the Oprah show because that is what really was her core at that time in her life. When she tried to come back, the lyrics are: "When all my strength is gone, in You I can be strong. I look to You!" Not, "I didn't know my own strength". Her own strength led her to be a crack addict -- but perhaps it was because R. Kelly wrote the song and he is a convicted sex-offender . . .
anyway, it was incredible to see her alive on screen again. What an amazing journey and life lessons for all who look at hers. Happy New Year,. .
