The actors are very aware of both the difficulties and opportunities of their violently antagonistic relationship. That awareness is violently direct but also nuanced and layered in surprisingly complex ways. The viewer is fascinated by the unspoken as well as spoken exchanges; even the silences engage. Despite their anger, even obvious hatred, a strange kind of respect is evident.
