This book was so depressing, so negative and so lacking in any redeeming characters or story line that I (for the first time iny life, and I am a voracious reader who will read the back of cereal boxes if there's nothing else) flipped through it, vainly looking for anything to catch my interest. I didn't care about any of the characters, and found none of them believable or with any depth. It is so depressing to read about an unloved.person who has nothing pleasurable in their life. Why would anyone want to read a story this negative?

I have read everything David Baldacci has written. This is the weakest and least interesting. No character development; just a lot of deaths of people you care nothing about. It feels thrown together and half-hearted. Read anything else by Baldacci.

This book has no beginning, no end, and no story that makes any sense. I am baffled by the excellent reviews. None of the characters elicit any sympathy or emotion. It appears the author typed a series of stream-of-consciousness scenes, and forgot about things like plot and character development. Resting on his laurels, I assume. I read every word, hoping it would improve. Now I consign it to the recycling bin .
