A 40s period gem of a movie. Albany was the perfect city choice for this movie. Albany evokes a very specific depressive mood, even today. It is one of the most genuine Americana cities that always keeps its character. Aspects about the layout and features of the city such as: the rivers, shipping/receiving ports, lumberyards, warehouses, and city centre sheetmetal shops, linen/textile shops, refrigerator/stove/furniture stores, various tv/electronics repair shops, variety store/smoke shops, etc., all give that unmistakeable blue collar/lower working class flavour to this movie.
Overall Albany looks like a very sad, rundown, depressive city in the movie, but it is exactly the perfect city for this incredibly well acted movie.
