Let me start by saying that I have read and re-read every book by Jennifer McMahon. I LOVE her work. So, when it took me a couple of months to finish My Darling Girl, I knew something was wrong. The stomach churning suspense was missing and the compulsion to read on to the next page was nonexistent. However, I pressed on after tidbits of mystery laced a page and I thought Jennifer's uncanny ability to captivate me was just on the other side of the paper. It wasn't. Not only did I feel like so many things were rushed through or forgotten, the ending was beyond disappointing. I honestly flipped passed the authors noted looking for the actual ending. If I could give a half star, this book by my favorite author would have gotten a shocking and unbelievable 2.5 stars.
