I know my feedback doesn’t hold the same weight as The Guardian or NYT! Haha
But I really enjoyed this film. The cinematography was excellent at portraying the shifting perspectives.
I found the characters to be complex; and appreciated that the film focused on each characters’ relationship to the sport, to one another, and the interplay of all those relationships. It felt very human. For me, there wasn’t a clear “good/bad” or “right/wrong,” because it very much felt like each character had aspects of each.
It was a film where I could not ultimately predict what was going to happen; and there were moments of empathy for each character, which makes for a good film in my opinion.
**LIGHT SPOILER BELOW**
The final scene seems to allude to a happy ending — whatever that means for these flawed characters.
