I felt this man was broken and tired with every day life and human interaction. His meeting and experiences with the octopus gave him something completely unique to focus on and although he became, through his own omission, obsessive it was what he needed at that time. It was what kept him alive. I feel that things happen for a reason and eventually, through his experiences and emotional closeness to the octopus he was able to once again engage with society and follow his passion once again. It was deep and meaningful and healing. My father always told me that animals give you something unfathomable which you cannot get from human beings and it's true. It's a silent but deep connection and understanding and they seem to appear when you need them the most. I absolutely loved this documentary for many reasons and am looking forward to watching it again and again.
