Why is it that Stephen King movies are always so disappointing? This had such potential to be done better. The fact that Cynthia couldn't even have green and orange punky curly hair was just one of the areas that could have helped. And while Ron Perlman is awesome, he certainly isn't and wasn't some giant man either. Scenery is great and gives perspective to remoteness. And the mine also helped add to the feel (scenery is what earned the stars). For a 2 hr movie, it still just missed so much of what made the book amazing. One day someone is gonna follow a Stephen King book exactly and use the technology we have and people who don't read will finally get the actual story and not some poor interpretation of a screen writer. Read the book. Or don't. But I wouldn't waste my time on this movie.
