I really wanted to like this show, but it had so many heavy topics without good development or resolution that it was hard to pay attention. Death, sexual assault, faith vs science, sex discrimination, racism, civil rights, stealing, money troubles, postpartum depression, plagiarism, home remodel (lol), a mother’s separation from her child at birth, lying that was detrimental to lives. It was all over the place. They could have picked just one of these heavy things and it would’ve been plenty. And Elizabeth didn’t even finish her research after all that time and remodeling of her kitchen? She and Calvin were allegedly so close at Christmas time, what took so long, after 7 years nothing, unless I missed it?! What was even the point? And I know she’s a DNA-interested chemist, but she had a lot of knowledge of human physiology, and to me that crossover isn’t exactly plausible. Plus her and Calvin’s smarts made them arrogant and made the show less personable.
