The DnD movie is a masterpiece. Not only did it exceed all expectations as a tie-in movie, it's just a solid movie that stands on its own merit. Great cast who treat the source material and comedy elements with as much straight-faced respect as they GO HARD for the emotional scenes - Chris Pine was an excellent choice. Visual effects barely need a mention, no notes. Set dressing, outfits, props, great work all round.
After all that, they could have slouched with the plot and still made a fun movie... but nahhh, they went and crafted a satisfying, emotionally nuanced story that cashes in its set ups and leaves you both fulfilled and open to more.
Chloe Coleman who plays the daughter was fantastic and I'm sure we can expect more great things from her yet. A special mention to the red wizard, a striking performance by none other than Anthony Stewart Head's daughter(Daisy Head)!
