I am surprised by the negative reviews. Jane has timeless themes - enjoy them! The fact that a beautiful film can be made now based on her work is something to celebrate. Dakota plays an engaging Anne - one who still suffers many years after parting from Frederick. She has humor and insight too. As for Cosmo, well done. His Frederick can’t forget the love of his life - and he conveys much with his gaze. His speech pattern and tone reminds me of another Frederick played by Rupert Penry-Jones. But Cosmo’s version seems warmer. Great scenery, supporting characters (Richard E Grant is a scream!). Take it from an old English Major and Janeite…watch and enjoy.
