The perfect depiction of New York City mob life in the peak of its existence, Scorsese’s Goodfellas is larger than life, a truly remarkable film. Timeless masterpiece that can be played on a loop for generations to come. Even out the spectrum of “mob movies” goodfellas is a true story about the gruesome nature of the NYC underworld from 1950-1980. Every actor in the film is on their A game and truly in their element. Scorsese has a wonderful way of submerging the audience into the shots and making you feel as you’re amongst them. The film has a beautiful way of sucking you in from the intro when Henry is watching the Vario crew from his window to spitting you out at the ending when he’s in the witness protection program. It’s truly a rollercoaster ride and one of my favorite films of all time. 5 stars.
