To Live as a black man at such a time was much more a death sentence than a social creature trying to live with other social creatures, man. The color tone of our skin makes us different from some people, this is wrong in many aspects.
The life Robert has been through as he narrates from this book makes one shade a tear with devastating accounts of hardship, loneliness yet surrounded by many and obviously productive at his workplace.
Robert was truly a unique person to have protected his dear life in such difficult times.
Finding his way to Uganda out of the soviet union can not define the relief and joy he found. I personally visited Saint Petersburg(Leningrad) in 2018 through inspirations that I picked from this book that I read over 7 years ago.
