And the third worst movie of the 2010’s is… Hell and Back (2015) This isn’t just the worst claymation movie of all time, it’s up there with the worst animated movies of all time! Everything about this movie is awful in a new category that I can’t even describe. The characters, the plot, and the animation. For starters, there is NO saving this claymation. It looks so bad in a way I can’t explain, but the voice acting is even worse. Even if The Emoji Movie was awful, you could at least tell the voice actors were trying their best to make something good out of it. But there is just zero care in this voice acting at all. The main characters, Curt and Remy, are unlikeable, joyless, and cruel. In fact, they are so unlikeable, they ALMOST fit into Family Guy territory. This is also one of those sad movies that thinks by slamming “Adults Only” on their product, they’ll get people to laugh at jokes about used condoms. And the worst thing of all, the main plot is downright ridiculous and stupid. It's basically about Curt getting sent to Hell, and Remy and Augie going to find him there. And why did he get sent to Hell in the first place? Because he took a mint from Remy and promised to pay it back with a blood oath, only to them not have a mint to pay him back with. This is a downright nonsensical and stupid reason for someone to get sent to Hell. Not to mention how making a blood oath to trade mints with someone else is just as nonsensical as someone being dragged into Hell for not being able to complete said deal. It feels like they just made the plot up as they went along. To summarize, this doesn’t feel like a movie. It feels like an attempt to end claymation all together. Leave “Hell and Back” laying in the bargain bin for all eternity!

And the fifth worst movie of the 2010’s is... Monster Family (2017) Oh God, I hate this movie! This is easily the worst animated movie of 2017. And I’ve watched the flipping Emoji Movie! But The Emoji Movie actually looks SUPREME by contrast! That’s how low we’ve sunk. Sure, The Emoji Movie was full of product placement and had an incredibly cliched plot, but at least Sony was kind of trying. But Monster Family makes zero effort to try to entertain the viewers. One star is being nice. This movie truly deserves no stars. To start with, the CG looks incredibly bad for a movie made in 2017. This looks like a 2000’s movie. But that feels like a generous compliment because I don’t remember Kung Fu Panda being this ugly. In fact, the CG is so hideous, it ALMOST fits into Video Brinquedo territory! And then we get to the voices. These voices sound AWFUL. It sounds like the voice actors definitely weren’t making any effort in these roles what so ever. In fact, they must have been desperate for work to agree voice act in this trash heap! There is clearly no hope for this animation, or this company, or this writing. Oh God, the writing... I am jaw dropped by the pure lack of quality in this writing! Sure, the original movie was in German, so translations to English are always gonna be difficult. But this was just a zero effort translation on what I suspect was an already lazy script to begin with. Like Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka is looking more and more amazing the more we plummet into the depths of this garbage. And these characters, these characters are just AWFUL. All of them are bad, but Fay, arguably the worst character, is a stereotypical bratty, self-absorbed teenage girl who's always insulting her family and only thinks about boys. There's even a scene where she, for no reason, starts hitting and kicking her little brother. To the point of throwing him down the stairs. She is easily one of the worst characters I’ve ever seen in a movie. And that is against some very stiff competition at this point in my life! The worst part is by far the story. This movie is a complete rip-off of Hotel Transylvania. And all watching this movie is making me do, is making me wish I was watching that movie instead. However, there is ONE plus to this movie: We get to see Fay frozen by Dracula. And after seeing this movie, I could have that on repeat all day. This movie ticks all the boxes for a horrible Hotel Transylvania rip-off. So go watch that movie, or one of the two sequels. But by all means, do not watch Monster Family!

And the seventh worst movie of the 2010’s is... The Emoji Movie (2017) It goes without saying that this is one of the worst movies of 2017. And since I’ve talked about it a lot in the past, I’ll keep it brief. This movie was originally going to be number five, however, it ended up getting knocked higher up the list by Monster Family. So let’s talk about why The Emoji Movie is significantly better than Monster Family. First of all, a bit like Norm of the North, I really feel like the voice actors were really trying to make something good out of this movie. You can tell they were really trying their best with the script. Second of all, I feel like the writers were at least trying with story. As cliche as it is, I think it has a nice message to it at the end. I actually don’t find this movie offensively bad. I just don’t like the excessive product placement and cliched story and characters. But I certainly think it’s Sony’s worst movie by far. I definitely don’t recommend this movie.
