Considering how 2020 went as a year, this film was ok. For Pixar standards, it wasn't as good as other films in my opinion, as I could understand what Pixar was trying to produce, but for me, there just wasn't the spark that I was looking for.
First of all, the emotional story wasn't as strong as other Pixar classics, such as Up, Coco and Wall-e. Not saying there wasn't any emotional storyline, but just wasn't as strong and powerful as other Pixar films. I was expecting a much stronger emotional storyline, but just couldn't find it.
Second of all, the script was a tiny bit uneven in my opinion. At times, it went a bit quick for my Pixar liking, but luckily, the scene afterwards slowed the pacing back down. This happened quite a few times throughout the film. I feel like if Pixar and Pete Docter spent a little more time developing the story and characters, it would feel much better.
Overall, "Soul" was an OK film that finishes 2020 in a good fashion, but it's emotional attributes and script brings it down compared to other Pixar classics, not saying that it is completely horrible. My rating is 7/10.
