This is a true feel bad romcom. Also unbelievable.
The male protagonist couldn't accept unconditional love. But it's hard to believe that two years of consistent messaging from the female protagonist, in the conditions presented, wouldn't have enabled him to do so.
The man who brought them together later would have gotten through to the young man earlier.
Also, we have to feel bad repeatedly over rotten family issues. And even if they had gotten together, we would have had to cheer for her for leaving her husband.
What a downer.
