Affleberry Fondue

I don't know...one episode in, I'll try not to be too critical. The acting is hit or miss, a couple of the performances are ok, others are corny at best, as is the writing. Also, I have a few issues w/ the story. So when the King tells the Princess about Aegons dream he says "Aegon called this dream A song of ice & fire", & that allegedly Aegon had a premonition about the White Walkers I guess. So we're meant to believe that the Archmaester in GoTs just coincidentally named his book the same exact thing? I don't know...maybe I'm missing something. Also, you'd think that Aegon would've let people know, anyone know, about the impending doom of the entire world. You'd think Sam would've found something...anything...about Aegons dream/premonition. Anyway, I'm getting off topic, I should save this stuff for Reddit. Back to HoD, the dragons are mediocre at best, not close to GoT cgi, over all I'm disappointed so far, but like I said... it's only 1 episode in. One last thing...did they actually put a "fart" sound effect in when they pulled down that rapists pants to castrate him, or was I hearing things?

A thorough disappointment. And I was so psyched to see this movie. The only reasons I'm giving this 2 stars is because the cinematography is excellent, & Keke Palmer was pretty damn good. But that's the end of the positives for me. Kaluuya is criminally underutilized, as is Keith David & Steven Yuen. The "payoff" is utterly cartoonish & feels unearned. The most tense, dramatic parts of the movie ended up being a prank by the neighboring theme park owners children & a backstory about a chimp on a TV show that had little to nothing to do with the actual plot. I suppose I just fell victim to a great trailer & good marketing.

The only reason I gave this movie 2 stars is because of the performances by Michael Gandolfini, Vera Farmigna & Corey Stoll (w/ a shout out to Billy Magnusson for his portrayal of Paulie). That being said, it would be the understatement of the century to say this movie was a disappointment. There's just too much there to properly flesh out in a 2 hour movie. Most of the time is spent trying to figure out who is who, all while "woke" modern SJW subjects are forced into the story. Ray Liotta (RIP) overacts in one role, & then under-acts when he's brought back for another. Many of the performances feel like impressions, especially that of the actor playing Syl. I wish they chose to do this as a series, even a single season would've better served us. This was a prequel to quite possibly THE BEST SERIES EVER MADE, the world deserves better...sorry, but it's true.

I was extremely disappointed with this film. Maybe my expectations were too high because of the trailer & reviews, but even accounting for that I can't help but feel like they left too much on the table. There's practically ZERO development of the villain, there's literally ZERO explanation, or even insinuations, as to what could be causing the "other worldly" occurrences. And the cherry on top is a massive problem I have with the story that I won't get into, I wouldn't want to spoil anything for anyone planning to see it. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because I though the young actress who played the main characters sister was excellent, & the actor who played the main character was pretty good as well. Ethan Hawke was fine, but there was no meat on the bones of that character. I didn't fear him because I didn't know what he was capable of, other than the abductions it doesn't show him do much of anything.
