Don't waste your time. I would have given it less than one star, if I could. Jackie Earle Haley is the WORST Freddie ever. He is a completely one-dimensional perverted slasher instead of the hilarious unsettling almost anti-hero that Robert Englund's Freddie was. Plus Freddie's look is way off. He looks like Scarecrow from The Dark Knight series wanted to dress up as Freddie and go trick or treating through the hallucinatory mess of a nightmare world that he creates. Instead of using the opportunity to sort of make fun of itself, because revisionist attempts of cult classics always suck, the film takes itself way too seriously. Oh, and no one is fooling anyone here. Nancy, Kris, and the gang are definitely approaching 30, not 19, as they want you to believe. It seriously looks like the mothers and daughters would be peers who complain about having had children when they were "too old" or "too young" respectively. So definitely save yourself from this trash and rent the original film, done right the first time in the 1980's.
