Bulbbul is a visual delight, if at times, somewhat predictable. But the feminist message is clear and stunning. I could not turn away from the gripping performances by Tripti, Rahul, Parambrata, and Paoli. This movie is a rude reminder of the lived experiences of women in a patriarchal society. It is a must watch for anyone who grew up with Thakurmar Jhuli legends about 'churail', often a moniker to ostracize women who could not be subdued, because this movie, in less than two hours, is a brilliant reclaiming.

Do not watch the movie if you do not want two hours of propaganda shoved down your throat. Naseeruddin Shah and the golden retriver are the only positive things about the movie.
