Season 8 is easily the most disappointing season, I suspect because of management decisions. The acting, as always, is riveting and authentic; the sets, costumes, locales, AND dragons:brilliant. But, trying to conclude complicated people, themes, story lines in 6 episodes compels serious compression. This is a management shortfall forcing abbreviated writing. Round peg, square hole. The story (stories) are simply too big to fit. This forces people to behave out-of-character wedded to chaotic direction and camera work, giving the emotional impact of rushing and leaving the audience wanting to get it over with. Episode 3 and Episode 5 are tedious, grinding and actually become boring. The battle action is indecipherable and motives are witless. The pace of the battles is slow, bogged down, and dulling. Suddenly, our smart, cunning characters are making very stupid mistakes and silly decisions. There is no intensity between Snow and Daenerys. Worst of all, we have waited 8 years for serious emotional vengeance on Cirsei, something as dramatic and as deliciously evil as she is, and we are given a hasty, sloppy soap opera weepy clutch. Lastly...Daenerys, the breaker of chains, has a genocidal "moment" and becomes...ta da...Cirsei and after 8 years, here we go again.
