If I could give 0 stars I would, but google doesnt let you do that. I wanted to like this, as I am a fan of The Weeknd, reasonably like Lily Rose Depp, and enjoyed euphoria season 1. I normally don't listen to critics, as they seem to be paid off these days, so you could say I had a positive predisposition to the show, but they were right . Despite what many would like you to think, riskee and provocative alone doesn't make it a good show. Yes, it draws attention, a lot of times negatively, but it is entirely justifiable when there are an actually interesting plot and compelling actors. Such as GOT, Euphoria (1st season), and Gossip Girl in its prime. I was already suspecting the plot might be a bit shallow, given all the celebrities the show is bringing, but hoped good performances would be able to carry the weight, I would assume the characters were tailored for the people who would portay them given their status, yet surprinsingly, NO ONE is good in this. I had hopes for Lily Rose Depp (given that she is apparently the only actual actor in the cast) to show her skills and was very dissapointed, even with all that screen time she isn't any more compelling than she is in her smaller, low profile roles. I dont think I'll be able to see her in anything without cringing after that moaning song. The air time of the show is divided between cringy dialogue and sex scenes. Thats it. The premise tries to convince you it is some profound story about the abuse women in hollywood go through, what it doesn't tell you is that it is glamourising it. Even if I ignore the "feminist agenda" of the show, it has nothing to offer more than Sam Levison's pretty visuals. I cannot picture anyone other than a sycophant, a deeply pretensious film entusiast or a porn addict genuinly liking this show. This show barely tells a story, the most positive thing I can search in my mind to say is that it would be better off as a MV. And don't get me started with The Weeknd, he is trying to pull some dollar store fifty shades here and I don't know how someone saw it and said "this should be on tv". I hope he goes back to make music immideately so I can forget what I just watched.
