If you are looking for an enhanced sense of self-awareness, resilience, and control, then this book is it - I highly recommend it! Not everybody wants to, needs to, or can afford to see a psychologist and this book is a great stepping-stone as a mental health ‘toolbox’.
The book offers bite-sized chapters, from motivation and emotional pain to self-doubt, fear, stress, and grief. Each chapter is filled with practical steps and simple guidelines for coping during difficult times, healthily dealing with emotions and understanding how our minds work. I have learnt so much about myself reading this book and recognise the many ways that I need to work on myself.
Every chapter ends with practical tips to try and a chapter summary. You don’t have to read the book from the front to the back, you can choose the chapters that are most pertinent to you. I’ve covered just over half of the book so far without missing anything & I’ve gained immense value.
“We expect too much of ourselves and then fall into despair when we burn out or give up. When that happens, we are less likely to try again. Acknowledge the progress and small victories along the way. Start small and develop new habits. Once you sustain the habit of prioritising your healthy behaviours, they will sustain you.”
