Having seen the magnificent ''All is lost'' and heard Mark Kermode's review of ''The Old Man and The Gun'' i waited impatiently for it's arrival at the Odeon (Baron's Quay, Northwich). Not only did it arrive not too long after release but made the silver screening which cost all of £3 c/w tea and biscuits!!! suffice to say one of the best £3 purchases i have ever made. The screening was at 11 a.m. and it was a dull miserable Tuesday morning which was reflected in my demeanour as i entered the cinema reception. Honestly...it is no exaggeration when i say that the experience of watching Redford's portrayal of Forrest Tucker in what he's announced to be his last ever movie was not only uplifting but momentarily life changing! I left the cinema feeling wiser and calmer about the world we live in. It's simple really, Forrest Tucker who's victims describe as a gentleman placed little value on the money he robbed but instead the thrill of non-conformity was his motivation and as the story unraveled i felt euphoric and liberated from everyday issues as i peered over the top at the bigger picture. A great little film !!!
