“One of a Kind Kid” by Nancy Anderson is the story of a little boy living with ADHD. This deceptively simple book gets to the heart of how confusing our society can seem to a child with this diagnosis. His need to keep moving and his desire to meet and help others often clashes with the expectations of adults and the norms of our society.
His wise mother helps him focus on his positive attributes while letting go of the seemingly negative.
I highly recommend this book to any parent who has a child diagnosed with ADHD. I feel they could benefit from the wisdom this book provides.
A child living with ADHD will be able to find a kindred spirit in the main character and hopefully learn to appreciate the positive side of themselves.
I also feel this is a book that should be on school library shelves where all children can have access to a book that speaks volumes about acceptance for and of everyone.
