Playing this from Gamepass on XBOX. This game is beautiful and terrifying. I have only played hardcore, as I generally do if it's an option in a game. It's incredibly immersive with headphones on. The basic gameplay mechanics of scavenging resources and building things are done simply and intuitively. I find myself constantly marveling at how beautiful the water is...the environment is simply gorgeous. If you have a healthy fear AND respect of the ocean, then this will be a powerful experience for you. I spend a lot of time being pleasantly tense, and I've refrained from looking at guides, just to ensure the authenticity of this truly unique experience. Also, yes, I've been one-shot a couple times by... something... in the deep dark. It can be frustrating to have to start over, but it's so satisfying to streamline what you do and become more efficient.
