Does not do justice at all with the novel, changing crutial parts of the story.... there was no romantic involvement with Francois in the book, this adds to Richard's decent into maddness as he cannot get imaginings of her out of his head... where is Jed, and why does he do the rice run with Sal ?! And make love with her as well ...? And , why is Keaty a lovable charasmatic character when in the book he sits in his tent sulking and playing gameboy? If you have not read the book these alternations would not disturb your viewing, but if you have read the book be warned this film is a bitter disappointment ! A book that was already so good the reason why did hollywood changed its crutial elements in an attempt to make it more thrilling is belond me.
