I have watched 6 episodes of this show and can say the writing of the show is terrible. Even 6 episodes in, no information has really been divulged or hinted at with each episode adding 95% fluff. The idea that a victim of kidnap and supposed abuse is trying to pin another person, Jeanette, as the reason for everything that happened to her is such a stretch. Kate, the victim, has no evidence other than a necklace and no specifics to the details related to where, when or how she supposedly saw Jeanette. This makes it very strange how no one, including police, ask Kate any further questions and seemingly find this justifiable evidence with no proof. Kate seems to be obsessed and spiteful towards Jeanette even though her true captor was the one that inflicted all of her trauma which seems really off. Even in the possibility that Kate did see Jeanette inside the house or Jeanette had seen Kate as well, how would Kate have known that Jeanette wasn’t another possible victim? And yet Jeanette seems to become a complete outcast and shamed by everyone including her own mother! Another strange situation is Jamie, boyfriend/ex-boyfriend of Kate and Jeannette, seemingly learns of Kate’s escape from kidnapping and immediately becomes furious with Jeanette to the point of punching her. This also seems over dramatized and unrealistic in the fact that at this point he didn’t even learn of Kate’s belief of Jeanette being involved. Although I say all of this, the writers do have an ability to still leave each episode on a cliffhanger that makes you wonder if the next episode will finally provide the answers you are looking for. With that being said, I most likely will finish watching the season to figure out how the writers connect everything, but if you are looking for a well-written thriller that actually has real plot-twists, I’d say go watch anything other than this.
