A high quality effort to give a different experience than that given by the 1976 take on this key battle. There is more authenticity to the events from Pearl Harbor to Coral Sea and ultimately Midway. The linkage of minor events which led to the discovery of the Japanese battle fleet by American aviators was a smooth touch. This was more of a well-executed documentary than a background to some other story as the 1976 version and more recent "war" movies became. As an historian I appreciated the additional details of the major figures in America's victory, including the story of Machinists Mate Bruno Gaido.
