What better time to depict what continues to be the social fabric of our society than now.... I’ve been a psychiatric nurse for 20 years.... it is an uphill battle for people to endure systemic abuse from nearly every aspect of their life and not succumb to either an existence riddled with fear, the opposite, or severe mental health issues. The racism in this movie is one that is experienced by many people of color. Though this was outwardly blatant, it exists in subdued undertones... not being promoted to a position of power, not being afforded credit to buy property , being dismissed or discredited.... and getting away with “it.” Whatever infraction “it” is...THEM is a reminder what’s reaped will be sowed.
