Beautiful, sensitive and tender, just like their love story. I never before understood the scene where Connie breaks down holding a chick in the other films (or even in the book) but with Emma Corin's acting I now get it. The loneliness and isolation overwhelm her when she holds that fluttering little life in her hands. I also applaud Jack O'Connell's performance - their love is so honest and believable. I think this adaption is the truest one I've seen to the book and captures its spirit and essence. An impossible love, that this film makes possible.
