This is an amazing game! It's addicting and engaging like Animal Crossing and/or Stardew Valley. If you're a cozy game person, this is a MUST play. It might take some time to learn the ropes in the beginning, but once you learn how to use their design features it will keep you glued! I logged in and out of the game when I first tried it out. It was a bit confusing and overwhelming, so do read the tutorials!
Likes: The visual is great. I like that you can design and build your own home. I enjoy the fact that it's a part of the gameplay to harvest resources to build your home and furniture. I especially enjoy hunting in this game. Just like Animal Crossing, you can change how your character looks. There is a lot to explore in the game. You can spend all day designing your home and harvesting resources OR you can complete tasks from the villagers and explore the world. It's easygoing with small challenges if you're up for them.
Dislikes: I dislike how this game was built to be played entirely online or with internet access. It takes away the satisfaction of knowing my gameplay & progress will always be there...available online or offline at my convenience should I leave and come back years later like I do with Pokémon. Also, with online games you can potentially lose all the hard work you put into a game if developers decide to stop developing the game (or make it available altogether), so maybe don't spend too much money on intellectual property that doesn't really exist. I wish there was a better way to farm (like in Sims 4 or in mobile farm app games). The gardening feature in the game can be very tiresome because you have to individually cater to each plot. There is the ability to increase your tools and their capacity to do more. but it doesn't help much and makes me hate gardening although I love it in real life. I struggled so much with the design features that I decided to play on PC & go back to Switch when needed so that is the downside. Editing your home and moving items should be easier. Maybe I've been too spoiled with Sims 4 and expect too much, but it shouldn't be so hard to want to move a flower bush and make it align evenly.
So far I've spent almost $30 on the game & used the money to cosmetically make my avatar more unique. I rationalize that I would pay between $30-45 to buy the game if it wasn't free. However, it only allowed me to buy ONE outfit and gave me a free pet for $30. There is no opportunity to engage with the pet, I wish we can at least request our pet to help us hunt and seek resources. Overall, I wouldn't want to pay more for a free game that I don't really get to keep, but I really do appreciate how well they made this game and it's worth what I have spent so far.
