One of the worst performances I have ever seen. Treated my husband and to say there was no history to it would be an understatement.
We couldn’t even follow most of the stories as it was just screeching into a microphone. I think they were trying to go for ‘female empowerment’ but to have the character that was dismissed by Henry Vlll for lying about her looks, portrayed by the curviest woman on the stage, sends completely the wrong message (I am curvy myself) and the undertone of that was way off point. To joke about miscarriages at the end was completely tasteless and you felt the atmosphere in the audience changed to the point of uncomfortable.
The jokes told weren’t that funny and I couldn’t wait for it to be over. The fact that this has been deemed appropriate for 10 year olds is rather shocking-I’m not a prude by any means- and if I had taken my 10 year old I would have walked out as completely inappropriate for anyone under the age of 16.
This could have been a real opportunity to provoke interest in History for young people but this is so poor it was just embarrassing.
