To people who found this movie terrible, or that it demeaned women, I have to say you misunderstand women or didn’t watch it to the end. It is a fact that we, women, have to overcome a lot to even be given a seat at the table. Yes, the Meg Ryan character was upset over losing her husband to another woman, who wouldn’t be? It has nothing to do with how far you have come or how important you are! And at the end, she did what was her passion: designing clothes. And there is nothing wrong with getting financial help and upstart from your mother or a friend or an investor. For Annette Bening’s character, absolutely she used the idea of one of her assistants when she was faced with being fired. But thankfully for all of us women, she came to her senses and quit the dead-end job that would never let her be the Boss. I loved the movie as it showed women how they really are! We should not forget that being vulnerable and being able to cry is not a weakness, it is our strength! We show emotions, because we have them. And then we wise up, dust ourselves up, and move on. I absolutely loved the movie, more movies like this need to be made.
