When I pick up older Asterix’s, I slow pace the reading, enjoying every moment. Must have read each book (older ones) more than 50 times. Didier and the earlier newbee as well the as the new Conrad….can’t even 1% of Uderzo solo, let alone touch the witty Goscinny. Today, I feel like rushing thru the new books and drawings. No wonder, Herge stopped Tintin from getting ravaged after him. The present one is less imaginative and has a weak storyline. The punches are not Asterixian.
I wish that the publishers take ideas and script from us fans. Even us, the far flunged ones, from Bharat have better understanding of the Roman Gaul relations and the Uderzo Goscinny zeal.
Now I have to wait for a few more years for another Asterix and see whether it has that same old appeal.
And yes, page 30 frame 2– Asterix refers to Getafix as Panoramix.
