Nicci Boots

While I was impressed with Mike Flanagan’s series, I don’t agree that it was an adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s masterpiece. Her gothic novel evokes such a higher level of madness - and did things I’ve never seen another book do! Jackson effortlessly weaves the narrative in and out of delirium, and expertly leaves you questioning the reason and truth of each character from beginning to end. It’s such a terrific read.
