After the awful “I Am Easy to Find” I wondered if The National had become so embedded in their own colons that the incredible band that had brought us “High Violet” would ever return. Well thankfully, this album puts that question to rest. While not quite matching the consistent high-points of their very best, “First Two Pages of Frankenstein” is pretty darn good - awash, for the most part, with the accoustic future-cool and evocative nostalgia that has made them one of the best Alternative acts in recent memory.
