The story came alive just when I thought it was too stiff. Ed Harris amazed me. He really is a top-notch actor. Diane Kruger makes restrained passion most attractive. The movie was an unexpected treat to the senses.

But it's not a comedy. The scenes going for guffaws are so obvious, you can't help but yell "cut!" Looks like the movie was aspiring to be Jerry Maguire.

Good photography, sets, sound, and actors in a romantic comedy without laughs. You know that you are supposed to care about the characters in the story and just believe that Ryan O'Neal was celibate for 22 years. Robert Downey Jr. does a lot of mugging to indicate where the laughs are supposed to be.
