It's a historical story, known by almost all Maharashtrians and those who have done their SSC from Maharashtra. Tanaji was known to have novel ideas for attacking the enemy. He was the game planner and troupe leader. The most striking memory of Tanaji was that he used a monitor lizard to climb the cliff. Was looking forward to see how they picturised it. But, Wonder why they didn't show it in the movie. Such big budget film with all stunts and computerised visuals. They could have easily attempted to stick to the history. What they showed was a story of any other soldier of Shivaji. Tanaji's story is incomplete without the GHORPAD (The giant monitor lizard). Also according to history Tanaji was killed by Udaybhan. And then Shelar mama kills Udaybhan to avenge Tanaji's death.

Honestly, I'm not a horror movie fan at all, neither one who writes reviews. But the trailer of Tumbbad movie was so impressive that I cannot resist from watching this movie on the first day of its release. And what a brilliant movie! Extremely well shot, very well directed and scripted. They managed to keep the grip on the audience throughout the whole movie. The whole feel of the pre independence era, the eerie rainy weather, the well scripted suspense and horror and the performances... Everything up to the mark. A must watch on the big screens.
