Love this show. They really be real about issues while mixing in comedy. I see some people upset about them speaking about the racism the black community faces saying it’s over dramatic, in which they don’t understand that’s these issues are real. It’s clear to see “those” people that don’t believe in systemic racism and in general privileges the black community has compared to white privileges is absolutely upsetting and ignorant as because they fail to acknowledge their own privileges as they never had to go through these problems. An example being going to a store without people/security being extra cautious of you because since you’re black you might shoplift. Also I see many upset over Calvin treating Dave “unfairly”. First of all I did not see that at all, and secondly Calvin respects Dave, I can see why he can be can be uncomfortable at first as it’s his first white neighbour. And overtime Calvin gets more familiar with Dave as they both learn about each other’s cultures. In which Dave learns over time the white privileges he has in which he didn’t notice at all. A simple example can be the episode where Dave and Calvin went golfing, which Calvin was immediately asked to take off his hat, compared to when no one had an issue with Dave wearing the same hat later on. Further acknowledging that privileges can be as simple as easy rules white people can get away with compared to black people. Anyway amazing show, makes me laugh on a daily. Definitely recommend :)
