Here’s the thing, I love the Legend of Zelda series. It’s probably my favorite series of games I’ve ever played. The problem with Triforce Heroes is the unnatural-ness of it. It is nothing like a traditional Zelda game and I love the idea of it mostly being a puzzle solving game. Breath of the Wild is another good example of being nothing like a traditional Zelda game. There’s tons of puzzles to solve, especially with Shrine Quests and Side Quests, but the difference is that the way Nintendo made the open-world aspect of Breath of the Wild was outstanding. Triforce Heroes is the exact opposite. You are confined to very small areas in each level you play with almost entirely puzzle solving to get through each section. It’s an amazing idea to utilize three different heroes rather than just one to do different things you couldn’t do in other Zelda games. Unfortunately, the way you have to enter the levels through the castle, rather than adventuring and traveling to them from somewhere similar to Hyrule Field, is not exciting or invigorating to me. I feel like it’s extremely unnatural for a Zelda game and it just doesn’t feel the same as Ocarina of Time, A Link Between Worlds, and many others. Thanks for reading!
