Phoenix Joker is not for the slam bang action enthusiast who would normally expect from this genre. Joker is nothing that anyone has seen before. It not only goes onto overshadow Heath Ledger's legendary performance as the Joker in Nolan's Dark Knight, Todd Phillips goes all out unleashing this iconic character anyone would have ever imagined. No one other than Joaquin Phoenix could have pulled this out with such intensity. People will remember Phoenix laugh for a very long time. Some of the scenes are absolute plain brutal, the mayhem and certain sudden elements not only leaves the viewer with shock and awe it also makes you realise the sad side of this character. Phoenix portrayal of the joker is worthy mention of a few Oscars. The movie has been shot in some of the most notorious suburbs in the Bronx and compliments beautifully to the brutality the character unleashes. This is not for the sensitive or the weak hearted. Never a dull moment keeps the viewer on the edge. The background score brings back memories of The Dark Knight. Also, the camera work and the portrayal of NYC as Gotham City feels as if it's being watched through the lens of Martin Scorcesse. Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker has arrived finally putting a rest to the uncertainty that has been looming around is there anyone better than Heath out there who could play the iconic character with such brutality. Must watch. Bring in the Oscars, Joaquin Phoenix thoroughly deserves it .Thank you Todd.

Watched ToH ahead of India in Auckland, NZ. I would give it a 3.5/5. I think the kids would have more fun than the adult crowd watching this movie. Right from the 1st trailer it was loud and clear not to expect the smart stuff AK is known for. If you are ready to keep your mindful thinking away for 2.5 hours this is good entertainment. Especially AK's character which is completely different from what he does and something only he can do. The scenes between AB and AK were good. I was looking for great. Anyways, this movie is not for the complaining crowd. Enjoy with your family and friends have a good laugh and that's about it. Also, ToH has no resemblance to Pirates of.... whoever thinks it does they are having an optical illusion.
