I am amazed by the hypnotic artistry employed in the telling of this story and a life shaped by this history is told by Raoul Peck. I am also amazed by the sad, angry knee-jerk reactions to these facts of history that seems upset so many people who would rather not face the reality of what did happen, who it happened to and how it is still happening in much more sophisticated ways right here right now. Exposing the horrors of Colonialisim, the Doctrine of Discovery and Imperialism along with the predatory nature of Capitalism, must be done in order for true reconcilliation and unification in this Nation of the United States of America and the rest of the world. If we are to move forward with as little repetition of past atrocious behaviors as possible. Feelings of guilt shame and denial will do little to advance our human condition however acknowledging that these ill gotten gains soaked in blood, came from men women and children with faces hearts and souls like those of our own family members, how for the sake of wealth these people were exterminated as if they were sub human brutes, unfit to exist or determine their own fates by a systematic ,scientifically studied militaristic offensive lasting centuries. It has created the world we live in today and to make sense of it all an artistic work of this magnitude must be recognized and exposed to the world.
My deepest gratitude to HBO for their role in the presentation of this monumental film.
