There is a fairy tale magic to Blitz, a coming of age drama set in the hellish inferno of WWII London our young protagonist, a mixed race boy raised in a household with his loving mother and grandfather after his father was brutally attacked by a racist gang and escorted away by an uncaring police force never to be seen again. War brings out the best and worst of people, and Steve McQueen creates a story that shows both the horrors and kindnesses, bravery and tragedy of this time. Like Empire of the Sun, this is story of a boy dislocated by war, his race, his father and mother, who find strength through kindness and cruelty. It's and outstanding story, and a beautiful film. 5 Stars.

As a 1080p PC user with decent last Gen graphic card I have dodged a lot of the disappointment that last Gen console owners have faced with performance. RTX is not an option, but I have rocked a steady 50-60fps on ultra/high settings. So far the game is incredible. The graphics are extraordinary and it is full of fascinating concepts, characters and stories. The one thing I would change is the first person view. With the Witcher,and ME series I formed a bond with my character. Playing first person as someone else jars a little. I am getting used to it, but I prefer a third person perspective.

How good this film is depends entirely on how you judge it. As a superhero origin movie it is great. Much like Batman Begins does for Bruce Wayne, it outlines the motivations of a comic book villain dramatically and powerfully. Is it as good as The Sacrifice by Andrei Tarkovsky? No. But are we, or should we be judging it against the greats? No. It's a comic book movie. Compared with the recent DC rubbish it demonstrates a positive progression, and it makes me excited for the next Batman movie. In fact, it is far closer in tone to the better Batman comic books than the other movies. The hype positions it as art, the reality is that it is DC. 4 stars. It's a good movie with an excellent lead performance.
