Our children went through the dance competitions for many years. We get caught up in the hope being told we have future professional dancers. We did the whole competition route and did well. But we forgot why our girls were there. It was not to compete but to forge friendships and to dance and have fun. In reality, just like hockey the chances are few. It is a great socialization period but in reality the dance schools are all about the money.
