They try but fail to impress. The dialog is awkward and too modern. If they wanted a modern adaption they should have put some modern clothes on the actors. The cinematography also seems half hearted and the characters lack the depth, feeling and sophistication. I was really disappointed and I hadn't read the book in a very long time.
